What attracted you to join SPO?
I joined SPO because of its good reputation as a market leader in the offshore industry. I got to know of SPO through a friend and when I visited the SPO office in Douala in 2005.
At that time, the team was quite a young and friendly group of people, with some locals and a few expatriates. I had just graduated from college then and decided to apply for a job in SPO as it is a multi-national company and the main working language is English which makes it an ideal work environment for me.
Tell us more about your work with SPO.
I manage all IT-related issues in the SPO offices as well as on the vessels in the West African region. My primary responsibilities include the management and maintenance of IT and computer systems at the outport, satellite offices and on board vessels to ensure smooth operations; management of finances and budgeting relating to IT purchases; liaising with suppliers and formulating service agreements, IT policies and procedures, users’ manuals and license agreements.
What do you feel most fulfilling about your work in SPO?
I’ve been working in SPO for more than 10 years. I enjoy the close interaction and camaraderie within the team, being able to use my expertise to support the work that SPO does. I also enjoy the chance to network and mingle with my fellow colleagues. The work in SPO is stimulating and challenging, and we work together as a team to solve different challenges. I always feel a sense of achievement at the end of the day.
